Affiliate Marketing & Blogging Disclosure Test, Your Help Needed

Make money teaching a class at Prfessor.com

Would you help me test something? I’ve posted two links below, both are to the same website, but one will have my affiliate link encoded in and is clearly labeled, and the other will be a straight link.

I want you to tell me which one (honestly) you would click on if you saw it on my blog, and why.

Link #1 (non-affiliate link): ReviewMe.com

Link #2 (my affiliate link, I get a spiff if you use this): ReviewMe.com

Would you avoid my clearly labeled affiliate link? Why so?

Would you click on it because it was clearly marked and you knew it would spiff me?

Other thoughts? Leave a comment.

The point? Sure, I have a point. Let’s see what you have to say first, then let’s talk about the results.

  • What are you trying to test, Jim? I mean, are you considering your sample?

First, I'm a marketer. I know better than the average person what an affiliate link is.
    Second, I know you.

I'm guessing that your test sample will be at least partially skewed toward people like me.

So, are you looking to understand what marketers who know Jim Kukral would do?

Do you want me to pretend I don't know you when I answer that question? See what I'm getting at?
  • Link #2 - dunno why, but I'd click there if someone offers such options on their webpage/blog post (I didn't click because I am not signing up yet).
  • link #1 - on a random site
link #2 - on your blog
  • LOL @ Mark. Jim has an interesting point though - if he is talking about all sites/blogs, not just his blog. would disclosing that a link is an affiliate link help or repel visitors from clicking?
  • Gus cf
Well, this is the first time I visit your website, so I don't really "know" you, but I would still click the second link. If for no other reason than just to reward you for the full disclosure.
