I hate the fact that not one word was said about Windows 7 not having any type of email client what-so-ever was during it's pre-launch, so I have been looking for an Outlook Express alternative myself. Windows Live Mail, which is suppose to be the email solution for Windows 7.

I want to be able to deal with my messages on MY computer and not someone else's server. I also want to be able to save, import and export email, none of which you can do with Windows Live Mail.

I find Microsoft's excuse of not including an email client with Windows 7 because they wanted Windows 7 to be more streamlined, a very poor excuse, considering they still put junk like all of the AOL garbage, typical 60 day trials of Microsoft Office, and all that other garbage still in their Windows OS.

When I lost Windows XP. I was never able to get a replacement XP and ever since then I have been ditching one crappy OS after another.

Windows 7 was suppose to save all of us from the slow, non compatible, half functional Vista.
Microsoft keeps showing us that just when you think that things can't get any worse, they do.

I checked out Thunderbird, it seems ok. I guess what I'm really looking for is something more fun and nicer and not so utilitarian. Does that make sense?

Sigh, I suppose I need to go get a Mac.

Jim,

Outlook Express is ... limited. You're right. You should switch to a MacBookPro and use Apple Mail; or if you insist on staying with a PC, use Thunderbird. If you use Thunderbird, be sure to try getting into IMAP. Really what you need to do is move away from the PC platform, embrace the new MacBookPros, and use a combination of Apple Mail and Gmail.

Jim;

boy can I relate to your frustration; and Windows Live Mail Desktop is no better and I don't like T-Bird. I have written a few times about my frustration.

My solution which I am still testing; but gladly paid the 20.00 for the full version is InScribe (http://www.memecode.com/scribe.php). The author also has a Linux version and is working on a Mac port as well.

P.S. I remembered your little rant email feeds and have put it in place via FeedBurner just incase you're interested
