Hmm, I've had my days when I just call myself a loser and attempt to cry in a corner, but that's just me. I think most of everyone critics themselves harshly, just to improve themselves better.

I have to say I am my biggest critic. Of course I'm hard on myself every now and then — but it's more of a challenge than a put down. I definitely don't treat myself like a loser though! : ]

I do have to a certain extend a loser's thinking. I need to increase my confidance, because it's really hampering my image and not letting me take risks.

I'm not trying to win an argument. But you cannot say I can't sympathize.

We had a pretty good dry spell which lasted pretty much my entire adult life. From the last Celtics championship in 1986, punctuated with arguably the most painful World Series Loss ever (buckner vs. the Mets) until 2002 when the Pats won (So the last 6 years is more like it).

The Pats lost the biggest upset ever this past Superbowl (I know, wah, at least we were in it). And the Celtics who were supposed to stroll through this championship, aren't looking so unstoppable.

I'm not sure if you meant to imply that I've got no "character", but I'm just saying I haven't forgotten.

I'm not complaining, nor am I trying to say we got it worse than you. You guys do suck pretty bad. ;)

Hi Jim! Great thoughts this morning on perseverance. As a lifelong Cleveland sports fan, I can totally relate. I can also relate to your thoughts regarding what's most important and how sports now don't impact your mood the way they used to. I've had a similar experience in the past couple of years. I don't know if you can chalk it up to age (I'm 35), because I have a lot of friends and family members who still live and die with this stuff. Perhaps it's the young kids (I have a couple as well). In any case, I really liked your points about being positive and having that “winning” mentality. With more “winners” like you in Cleveland, this town will rejuvenate itself more quickly.
