Ukulele Lessons Part 3 - Learning Via YouTube

Here’s part three in my Ukulele lessons video series. I’m actually getting to be “good”. I know good is a relative term hence the quotes. What I mean is I can actually play some chords now. It’s fun. I’m finding how amazingly possible it is to learn how to do anything via YouTube video and google searches. Really, even learning how to “play the ukulele” can be done using the Internets. We live in an amazing world. This would... Read More »

Why Does YouTube Hate Business Content?

I do a weekly podcast called “Video Ninjas” over at Geekcast.fm with my friend Steve Rosenbaum who owns Magnify.net. I think you might like the show so I’ve included our latest podcast below. The show is all about the business of online video. Trends, business models, stats, etc… In this week’s show Steve gets me all fired up about how there is no real “place” for business or marketing videos on YouTube. It’s true. YouTube... Read More »

Ukulele Lessons Part II - I Get Better

In part one of my self-imposed goal to learn how to play the ukulele, I showed you how clueless I was, and how out of tune I was. In today’s video, I show you how I figured out how to tune it, and how I learned a few chords. This is a fun little instrument and I cannot wait to get better and begin writing some songs that I can perform on camera. Give me some time though. Have you ever tried to learn how to play an instrument from scratch? It’s hard. Any tips…... Read More »

How Do You Tune A Ukulele?

Last week I talked about being inspired. So much so in fact that I bought a Ukulele because it sounded like fun to try and learn it, and because I could learn to play it on camera. So here’s my first video of the Ukulele out of the box and not tuned. Pretty bad. I will be filming myself learning how to play it and you can watch the progress over time. Maybe I’ll even get good enough to start playing some songs. Why do this? Because it’s fun and I like music... Read More »

Businesses Don’t Get Customer Evangelism

Brands still don’t get customer evangelists. I know this because I am one, for two different products, and I do not feel the love I should. The video below talks about those experiences and about why more brands need to get smart and being to embrace the customer evangelists they have. Not to mention, companies should actively go out and seek these evangelists, then keep them. But they’re not doing that yet and I can’t figure out why? Maybe it’s still... Read More »

New Podcast Series: Let Jim Kukral Yell At You!

Today’s Daily Flip is in audio form below. Summary: I’ve found that I do some of my best motivational work when I yell at the audience. Ok, I don’t scream at them, but I aggressively tell them about the opportunities they are missing when it comes to things like video and other online marketing things in general. And… I like yelling at them… and they like it too. So I’m going to do a series of audio podcasts where I yell at you. You’re... Read More »

OnlineVideoToolkit.com Is Live - Win My Flip Camera

In this world, you have to give to get back. So when I started getting about 10 emails a day asking me how I make my web videos, I had two options. 1. Create a guide about how I do it and sell it for profit. Or… 2. Create a guide about how I do it and just give the darn thing away, for free. I choose the free route. Introducing, OnlineVideoToolkit.com. A free video guide that shows you everything I know about making web videos using inexpensive equipment. I produced... Read More »

You Should Start A Podcast

You should start a podcast. Why? Because your competitors are starting to do it, and frankly… it’s pretty easy and fun to do. There’s no excuses really. Look around… Are you going to be the person who waited to do it and be behind the curve a year from now, or will you be the visionary in your industry? The team that “was doing it way before everyone else”. If you don’t believe that audio/video is going to be a HUGE part of the future... Read More »

Is Your Online Social Life Ruining Your Real Family Life?

Being “social online” using things like Twitter and Facebook is all part of having and building a brand online, especially a personal brand. I cannot “not” be on Twitter and be active. If I wasn’t, it would be a liability to me in my line of work as a consultant in the business of online marketing. So the downside to being so social online is that it can affect my family life. My real life away from the computer and the Internets. Can our love... Read More »

Everything Is Show Business

Look. Don’t get fooled. A LOT of what you see on the Internets is “show business”. Loren Feldman is the best example. The guy is an entertainer who’s doing a “show”. It’s to entertain you and get attention. Ratings/traffic. Mylee Cyrus and those “racy photos”… same thing. Paula Abdul reading scripts on American Idol… same thing. It’s all about ratings and if you think that this stuff isn’t planned... Read More »

Marketleverage Ad Network Does Marketing Right

If you read my blog you’ll know I think most ad networks marketing and sales teams suck! They do. Except this new ad network called Marketleverage.com. Note: I’m talking about their marketing prowess only; I have no idea if they are a worthy network to promote yet. (Note, if you’re going to sign up and find out, ask for Kyle McCall as your aff manager). It’s funny how this little upstart company is EATING THE LUNCH of the big ad networks. I mean, they... Read More »

Leave The Online “Gurus” Alone!

Look, not all online “gurus” are scammers. Many will have you believe that they are, but let me tell you from 10+ years in this space… not all of them are out to steal your money by selling you junk. The big issue is determining which ones are legit and which ones are not. It’s harder than it seems. Hence, the confusion we all have. How do I know? Well, I’ve seen them all, and I’ve met with and become friends with many of them, as well... Read More »

Ecommerce Tips from StickerGiant.com

Ecommerce is a tough business. Some people think you just throw a site up there and your stuff sells. Very wrong. John from StickerGiant.com has been running a successful ecommerce site for years and years now. So I though it would be fun to hear from him about his business. Check out his laptop stickers, pretty cool. About John Fischer: John Fischer is began collecting and selling bumper stickers in 2000 after the Bush-Gore Election. His passion these days is printing custom... Read More »

YouTube Rejected Me As A Partner

I’ve been rejected as a YouTube partner. I was told that I didn’t have enough views. They’re right, I don’t, because of a few reasons. 1. I don’t use the YouTube player on my site because the quality of it is, well, bleh. And 2. YouTube doesn’t promote my type of content so how can I get views besides my own traffic? Bottom line: I don’t think they want my videos. Why? I think because they’re not yet ready with how to handle... Read More »

My Post-It Note Story, Attention = Success

The video below is all about getting attention to create opportunity, or revenue, or whatever it is that you’re looking to do. It’s a story about how I used a stack of yellow post-it notes to get offered a job. You should appreciate the middle part of this video where I post the notes all over my face for comedy effect. The point is… you can get a lot in this world if you can get someone’s attention. Anyone can do it. You just have to not be afraid... Read More »

I Answer Every Email I Get, Do You?

I answer every email I get. Mostly. What I mean is, every real email I get from a real person with a real request… gets answered. It may take me a week or longer to get to it, but I get to it. Today’s video (below) is all about email overload and your brand. Bottom line is, if you are going to put yourself out there and ask people to email you, you’re going to have to make sure you answer those emails. If you don’t, your brand is going to suffer. Be... Read More »

Your Marketing & Sales Team Sucks

A bit of a rant today on the Daily Flip. Going all Feldman on ya. Basically, your marketing sucks, and your sales team too. Especially ad networks. Watch the video below to get my entire case. I’m nicer in the video I think. Honestly though, I have to call you all out for bad marketing and even worse sales. Who in the ad network space besides one or two is actually doing anything innovative and attention-getting (booth babes do not count). Just a handful of you. The... Read More »
