Does Text Link Ads Make You Any Money As A Blogger?

No offense to my friends at TLA, but I’m wondering, do any “real” low-traffic bloggers make any money using their system? When I say “real” bloggers, I mean 99% of 60-70 million bloggers who get about 100 page views or less a week, or day even.

Again, I’m not trying to bait anyone or say that TLA is a bad solution. I’m simply trying to find out if it works for the majority of bloggers.

In my experience, it doesn’t, sorry. Plus I really worry about the whole follow thing. I don’t want Google thinking I’m selling page rank. Does that bother you?

Business Around A Lifestyle

The world changed on 9/11 in so many different ways. Since that day, there has been a major shift happening in the way people think and live their lives. Sure, many people still chase the dollar as their ultimate goal. However, many more people have begun to realize that the world could, well, end tomorrow.

That's why people are choosing to pursue a business around a lifestyle, instead of a lifestyle controlled by their business. It makes sense, right? If the world was going to end tomorrow, would you still try to live your life in a way you never wanted to?

Take a look around you and you'll see that this shift to becoming a lifestyle entrepreneur is being adopted by more and more people every day. Some of those people are falling into it because they have been laid off from their jobs and are literally forced into it. Some of those people just figure out a way to make it happen because of the "end of the world" thinking mentioned above.

I’ve tried it out, and found that it’s just not worth it putting TLA on smaller sites. There will always be those people that have sites with authority and high pagerank, and that’s why I think TLA is a lot better to for an advertiser to build backlinks.

I haven’t made one cent with them. I have tried on more than one occasion but I have never even had any ads displayed.

There’s value in selling text links. But make sure you use the nofollow attribute.

Without nofollow, Google sees it as an attempt to buy to boost PR, and they dislike it.

Until this week, TLA was my primary earner, now up to $100 a month. I just got a banner ad deal for $150 a month. No complaints about TLA.

Of course, once a TLA is sold, the price doesn’t increase. So I need to find a way to ramp up to more money with limited ad space.

I had a small blog, and Text link ads didn’t work on it. You need lots of traffic to work it out.
