I Need To Lose Some Weight – Watch Me Do It

I am not a dieter, in fact, I have never been on a diet per say. Sure, I’ve cut back on things to try to be healthier, like fast food, and soda pop, but I’ve never done the South Beach Diet, or Atkins.

I always figured that a diet is just a wrong way to effectively be healthier. In my opinion, and what do I know really, if you’re going to lose weight, you need to do it the hard way, with exercise and hard work… you know… a lifestyle change. Plus, I always felt that a “diet” won’t work because the day you go off of it, you’re probably putting the weight back on.

All that being said, I do need to lose some weight. So I’ve agreed to participate in a contest with some of my Affiliate industry friends. It’s a contest called the Affiliate Fit Club.

I’m on the Blue team. Our goal is just like the show The Biggest Loser… to see which team can lose the most weight by the Affiliate Summit Event in Feb. 2008 at the Rio in Las Vegas (which is the event I’m emcee’ing).

My goal is to lose 30 pounds by then. Can I do it? Not sure, but at least I’ll give it a try. Now I’m committed. Wait, what did I just do?

Keep up-to-date on the contest by visiting the website, and staying updated here on my blog. We’ll be posting videos of our progress.

Business Around A Lifestyle

The world changed on 9/11 in so many different ways. Since that day, there has been a major shift happening in the way people think and live their lives. Sure, many people still chase the dollar as their ultimate goal. However, many more people have begun to realize that the world could, well, end tomorrow.

That's why people are choosing to pursue a business around a lifestyle, instead of a lifestyle controlled by their business. It makes sense, right? If the world was going to end tomorrow, would you still try to live your life in a way you never wanted to?

Take a look around you and you'll see that this shift to becoming a lifestyle entrepreneur is being adopted by more and more people every day. Some of those people are falling into it because they have been laid off from their jobs and are literally forced into it. Some of those people just figure out a way to make it happen because of the "end of the world" thinking mentioned above.

    Hi Jim,

Let me try to remember this. Didn’t you try to lose weight already one time ago. And even put up a blog about it, with progress, etc. I don’t remember the URL or the domain name … but hey, what happened to that?

I know how difficult it is to reduce even 5 pounds, but its not impossible if you do daily exercise and follow strict diet. Yes, diet is very important part in losing body weight. My best wishes for your success.

Hi! Just found your blog, good luck with your 30 pounds.
I just got an idea in my blog about how a treadmill could be combined with an xbox. Would you be my first costumer? =)

    Take care!

Can’t wait to see how you do Jim. I started at 5′ 11″ and 275 so a little more to the “obese” side than you are but I”m 218 as of today and still at it 7 months later. My goal is 185.

I feel low carb is the way to go although for appitite control as losing the carbs (sugars) seems to act a bit like a natural appetite suppressent. I found Atkins a bit restrictive for me and prefer the South Beach method so I can have ample veggies. Thanks for the post and best of luck to you!

Many now interests how correctly to eat. The number of the people dissatisfied with the figure or health recently has increased and, as consequence, trying to get rid of excess weight. You should pick up a diet approaching you, and also learn to make correctly balanced diet.

First of all…good for you! 30 pounds is a realistic goal if you do it the healthy way by diet and exercise. Don't do Atkins, you will just gain back what you lost as soon as you start eating normally again.

I agree being on diet may not be the right thing, I recently adopted this course with a tight diet and rigorous work out, I did loose weight but then started feeling weak too..
