Zac points out that John Chow didn’t make the Businessweek story about bloggers who make big bank.
There were a few bloggers on the list I’ve never even heard of… but where is the almighty and highly controversial John Chow? With so much secrecy on how much bloggers make, sometimes it’s a complete guessing game… why not feature John Chow, who gives a full revenue statement each month on much his blogging is generating. It could just be the writers of Business Week never heard of him, or his blog. It’s all too common that the people working in the industry (like myself) know a lot more than the people writing these articles… which is why bloggers are making a ton more than writers for these main stream magazines.
So why did John get snubbed? Maybe Zac is right. Maybe the writers never heard of him. I don’t have the answer.
But you have to wonder if his brand perception may have played into this?

Business Around A Lifestyle
The world changed on 9/11 in so many different ways. Since that day, there has been a major shift happening in the way people think and live their lives. Sure, many people still chase the dollar as their ultimate goal. However, many more people have begun to realize that the world could, well, end tomorrow.
That's why people are choosing to pursue a business around a lifestyle, instead of a lifestyle controlled by their business. It makes sense, right? If the world was going to end tomorrow, would you still try to live your life in a way you never wanted to?
Take a look around you and you'll see that this shift to becoming a lifestyle entrepreneur is being adopted by more and more people every day. Some of those people are falling into it because they have been laid off from their jobs and are literally forced into it. Some of those people just figure out a way to make it happen because of the "end of the world" thinking mentioned above.
I dont think thats the case. From the bloggers they have selected its clear that they have picked blos from a range of different topics eg. this wasnt just a list of blogging blogs which make money :)
Well sometimes we just can’t be sure how these things get picked. There is just so many great bloggers these days.
