Marketing With SMS (text messaging)?
So, how much SMS marketing have you done? If you’re like me… probably none. Yet. It’s coming. The first thing us marketers need to do is understand what SMS is. It’s text messaging. Imagine a double opt-in email sender, but through text.
Here’s an interview I did with the guys at Mobilestorm about SMS. Will be interesting to see how marketers use text to get messages out in the years to come.

I thought SMS and mobile web were going to be the next big thing in marketing. Then Apple came out with the iPhone. I really think that e-mail, twitter, or IM will replace SMS. Phone companies will have to stop charging for SMS to give it a few more years of life, but I just can't see its surviving.
Ads on my cellphone? Heck, I've never even sent a text message to another person's phone in my life. I think I would be quite unhappy to start receiving messages from advertisers from the get-go.
But you're probably right...it's coming. :-/

There are many simple ones that give you trial SMS text messages. Found that simple yet useful sites like www.Bubbletext.com was the way to go for sending sms text messages from the web. You can add credits anytime using Paypal.
I just don't understand the idea behind sending ads via a cellphone. I can't tell you how pissed off Id' be if I got an ad on my cellphone. Although 10 years ago I didn't think ads on the internet would work either... So I'm probably wrong. But .. damn, I just can't imagine being OK with getting an ad on my cellphone.
Well, it's just like an email list. You optin to get emails from companies you like, right? Same thing here.

I had an entire business idea based on text message marketing, but I've abandoned it now because it just doesn't seem realistic to me anymore.
The big question will be: How do you use whatever replaces SMS for marketing?
I could be totally wrong. I don't know a lot about the industry.
I also am basing the center of my consulting business around text messaging, but it's mostly just my opener to build my relationship with the businesses. Usually I get other business because I have introduced this new idea to them. I think the iPhones are still too expensive to worry about...text messaging should last at least a couple more years if not more, in my opinion.

Is there a way to also market my RSS subscribers to get paid for site views? Most service providers in the US are looking to leverage there bandwidth to help pay for telco usage.
Now I think you can ony monetize RSS readers with pageviews, you gain very qualified visitors.
