Online Video

It’s not that there’s no money to be made in video. It’s that nobody in video knows how to make money.
No matter how you look at it, the message to professional online video producers from this data point is similar to that of our Revver video analysis: Keep your day jobs.
Um, no. See above.
I’ve been preaching this for years. Most people who do online stuff, especially entertainers, have ZERO knowledge of how to monetize. This is especially true for bloggers, but we’re talking about video bloggers now.
Robert is right too. I’ve said this a million times. It’s all about the influence in your industry.

Business Around A Lifestyle
The world changed on 9/11 in so many different ways. Since that day, there has been a major shift happening in the way people think and live their lives. Sure, many people still chase the dollar as their ultimate goal. However, many more people have begun to realize that the world could, well, end tomorrow.
That's why people are choosing to pursue a business around a lifestyle, instead of a lifestyle controlled by their business. It makes sense, right? If the world was going to end tomorrow, would you still try to live your life in a way you never wanted to?
Take a look around you and you'll see that this shift to becoming a lifestyle entrepreneur is being adopted by more and more people every day. Some of those people are falling into it because they have been laid off from their jobs and are literally forced into it. Some of those people just figure out a way to make it happen because of the "end of the world" thinking mentioned above.
I’d say the blendtec people are doing ok with video. So is the wine guy.
I think people that can attach a product/service to popular video ARE getting rich right now.
People that just have lotsa people listen to their fart jokes probably won’t.
Ok, that’s two, and I can name you about 10 more, that’s about it.
Hilarious! They all sounded like ringtones. You should find something similar to Om’s show. Very Web 2.0ish…

That was certainly a low CPM but if the main aim is to drive traffic to a bigger money site then he’s done well.
Are you still liking your Flip? BTW, what is the point of pushing the video stuff if there is no money in it?
Yeah, I’m still using my flip, and loving it. There is money in video. My point was nobody knows how to get it. I do :)
OK Bother…don’t keep it a secret. I joined your feed, so point me in the right direction. I don’t want to have to read all your archives from 2001.
I need to go viral…
You said…
