Obama Knows Marketing

Quite simply… Obama’s marketing team is kicking McCain’s marketing team’s arse. Don’t think so? Please point me to some huge wins by McCain’s marketing gurus. Now, I’m not getting political here. I’m talking about marketing. Politics is about marketing. Hint of proof: When was the last time one of these candidates talked about some real issues? They don’t.

Why? Because nobody wants to hear about boring issues really. You give the audience what they want to hear. That’s how you market successfully. So Obama’s team strikes yet another blow by announcing the party nomination is going to be an “open event“. Watch the video below where I explain why this is so smart.

A LOT can be learned from watching how smart politician market themselves. Keep your eyes open.

The stadium concept isn't actually a “new” idea for a venue to accept the Democratic party nomination - it's practically ancient.

JFK did it at Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles in 1960.

Just proof of “More Sizzle, Less Steak”
People do care about the issues. Especially Guns, God, and Taxes. Obama doesn't like #1 and #2, but he likes #3. Red-state America is the opposite. Look at the county map from 04, I predict 42-46 states for McCain. Not because he's better at marketing, or a great leader.
He just doesn't insult people and the things they care about.

My point wasn't about how innovative it was to world Presidential history, you brought that up. It's new to this election, and my point is still valid.

Where exactly does Obama say he doesn't like God and Guns? Last time I checked he was a religious man and had no intention of messing with guns.

OK, well you didn't say that in the video. You were giving Obama acclaim for being different and new and “running on new”.

Maybe his next new thing will be to re-tool the “Daisy” ad from LBJ.

I think Andy was alluding to this comment from Obama a few months back:

“You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Where in that statement did Obama say he didn't like or was going to take guns from people?

That statement was true. Nobody wants to hear the truth about themselves though. Give him credit for saying it.

It was a generic statement. But it's true. Does the media spend more time talking about terrorist fist bumps or taxes? You know the answer to that. The public is bored with “real” issues. They like the vapid stuff. You cannot deny it.

Seems to me that with your comments dissing McCain, that you have placed biased comments rather than factual.
Just because Obama wants his acceptance speech in a stadium is news worthy as opposed to your take on McCain in a donut shop? Sounds rather biased to me.

It is only the square feet in the Oval Office that concerns me more and Obama is not now qualified to hold the office.

He does make a good speech though but still not as good as Alan Keyes.

I can deny it. and so would many others. I believe people are interested in issues more today than ever. The popularity of political, environmental and military blogs shows an unprecedented interest in the issues. Today there's so much more to news than the “vapid” main stream media. Jim, you're blind to say how we all are 'bored and uninterested' in real issues. I believe you when you say that the above applies to you and all you know, but thank God you're dead wrong about it applying to everyone. To quote you Jim - “open your eyes”.
