SomethingStore.com – Creative Ideas Get Noticed

SomethingStore.com – Creative Ideas Get Noticed

January 12th, 2008 // 11:56 pm @ Jim Kukral

Note: This is the first beta version of the Daily Flip web show. It’s… meh. It will get better (I hope). Thoughts you’d like to share? Short enough? Boring? I have a face for radio? Lay it on me.

Sponsor the Daily Flip!
$10.00 For One Week!

The SomethingStore.com website is a unique idea that I love. You order “something” for 10 bucks, and they send you “something”. I got a remote control speed car, which is pretty cool, and fun to play with.

The point is… creative ideas get noticed. Sure, they probably won’t make millions off of this, but it’s probably fun to do and gets them a lot of attention. Worked on me, obviously.

Good clip! Good length and the content was interesting. From a presentation perspective, I just have two suggestions, which you can ignore if you want.

    1. The border wrapping thingy. I totally thought that words were going to come up on the right hand side, like when Stephen Colbert does “The Word” … where was the copy?

    2. Try standing when you’re talking. Your posture will look better on camera.

But good stuff. I like the intro/outro too.

    Thanks Christian,

    1. Yeah, Stephen Colbert graphic package has influenced this, as well as many others. I’m still working on perfecting it! Glad you like it though.

    2. Yeah, standing is a good idea. Actually, I’m hoping to have a set in place eventually. Makes it easier to crank stuff out when you can just setup and record.

Glad you like it! Thanks for comments.

    Very well produced.

I would like to get beat over the head a little bit with what the Daily Flip is. I’m still not sure and I don’t want to go back and watch again to find out.

    Hi Jim,

    Nice job.

Fun, quick, nice editing. I agree with Tim that the Flip needs to be explained more…

The Top Spot list looks good on the side.

@Tim, Thank you. I guess I need to explain what the daily flip is better, got it.

@Steve, thanks! High praise coming from you for sure. I will find a way to explain what the show is all about. Actually, that’s a video that I’ve already scripted, need to shoot.

Hey, you know anywhere you can find that cool flip camera you used? :)
Great way to promote two products in one video (three with scratchback).

  9. Just a note – I was thinking of subscribing even before I noticed the link to the camera give away. You are demonstrating great marketing.
