Sponsor My Ukulele Shows With A Bribe

Here’s the deal. I’m looking for someone to send me this Ukulele. Yep, it’s only $200 bucks or so. Purchase it and send me this ukulele and here’s what you get in return.

1. My playing the ukulele in at least one video per week for the rest of 2008 broadcast on this blog.

2. Your logo on those video recordings as the sponsor of these shows (anytime I play it).

3. Bad playing and bad singing of some of your most favorite and beloved songs of all time. :)

Here’s the video explaining it in more detail.

If you’re going to do it, email me first so I can give you my address.

For your enjoyment, here’s me playing Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by the Flaming Lips.

Strumming My Ukulele

That headline sounds bad, I know. More ukulele playing in the video below. Today I’m showing off my lame strumming skills. I’m getting a little better, but it’s obvious I need more practice time.

Again, the entire point of doing these videos is to showcase the power of web video both as an educational and entertainment medium. I’m using web videos to not only educate myself on how to learn the ukulele, but I’m also using web videos to show the world my progress.

Plus, it’s fun. And fun is well, fun.

Practice Makes Perfect

Time for yet another learning how to play the ukulele update. The truth is, I don’t have that much time to practice, so I’m not getting that much better. So bear with me. In today’s video I show you some more chords I’ve learned. I’m still having fun, I just wish I had more time.

Remember, the whole point of this was to see if I could learn how to play by watching videos on Youtube or learning from free information found through Google. So far, so good. But slow without practice.

Ukulele Lessons Part II – I Get Better

In part one of my self-imposed goal to learn how to play the ukulele, I showed you how clueless I was, and how out of tune I was. In today’s video, I show you how I figured out how to tune it, and how I learned a few chords.

This is a fun little instrument and I cannot wait to get better and begin writing some songs that I can perform on camera. Give me some time though. Have you ever tried to learn how to play an instrument from scratch? It’s hard. Any tips… send them over!

How Do You Tune A Ukulele?

Last week I talked about being inspired. So much so in fact that I bought a Ukulele because it sounded like fun to try and learn it, and because I could learn to play it on camera.

So here’s my first video of the Ukulele out of the box and not tuned. Pretty bad. I will be filming myself learning how to play it and you can watch the progress over time. Maybe I’ll even get good enough to start playing some songs.

Why do this? Because it’s fun and I like music and well, it will make for good videos. I hope. Also, sometimes the best videos are those of you just trying something. When was the last time you took a risk and just tried something?
