The Time Is Right To Go For It, Will You?

Make money teaching a class at Prfessor.com

Can you feel it? I can. It’s looming. It’s that feeling of impending doom that has slithered into the room while we were all busy trying to be successful. You know what I’m talking about. That big financial crisis. It’s like a big snake that I’m afraid of.

It’s in the corner, staring at me right now. I’m sitting here waiting for it to come over and bite me and then it’s all over… my success will be over and it will all be because of this snake bite.

If you’re not feeling like this, then you’re better than I am, because as I sit here and watch our US economy crumble, I’m scared you know what-less. It’s frightening for sure.

But what am I going to do? What are YOU going to do? I’ve decided…

I’m going for it. I don’t care if we’re in the midst of a financial meltdown. I don’t care if people have less money then they used to. I don’t care if everything and everybody tells me now is NOT the time.

If you’re selling the right things… there is still a market of people who will buy it, even in tough economic times. Personally, I couldn’t think of a better time than now to focus on helping people figure out how to be independent of a “job”.

Now is the time when many people are being forced to take such measures as, gasp, working on their own and not being dependent on a boss. I call these people possible accidental entrepreneurs.

My advice at this moment in time… go for it. This may be the best time to do it.

  • Yes yes yes!

Here's the thing ... most people will quit. Especially now. Most people are freaking out, getting day jobs, slowing down marketing, cutting down on advertising, cutting their prices, etc.

Let's live in opposite land. Create a more narrow niche, specialize, and raise your prices. Buy more advertising. Launch a new product. Go for big funding.

Part of success (especially right now) is just to be the last person in the room after everyone else chickens out. :)

  • Yep, thanks for stopping by Elizabeth.
  • This is a very motivational post. It is hard to get motivated in this kind of economy now-a-days. Job market is bad, stock market is bad, and even the presidential election is effecting the direction our economy takes. I think we need to slow down and really come up with a good solid plan to get us out of this economic crisis.
  • Jim,
As you know, my role as a franchise consultant is to provide guidance and coaching to those interested in pursuing small business ownership option, and I bring added value to the table, because I help them reduce their risk.
You and I are very similar in our attitudes and philosophies concerning "Going For It!"

Jim, great post!!! As a franchise consultant, I hear people making a lot of excuses why now is not the right time, my response to them is...the economy has not stopped moving it is just changing. Small business is and will always be the foundation of this great country we live in. I look forward to hearing more great thoughts/ideas from you.

  • Jim,
It must be fate that I stumbled across this post. What you are talking about-going for it in the midst of economic disaster-is what my partner and I are doing right now. We recently moved from CA to CO after we lost 2 of biggest clients (non-profits) due to budget cuts. We put a website and and now putting a good amount of money into promoting the info through a seminar in Denver. The truth is we believe we have discovered something that is very cool that people can benefit from greatly. By the way we are not charging a dime for the event-a wing and prayer...
  • wow this is a great article.thnks for writing it.
  • Thanks everybody for the comments. So, did you go for it yet? :)
  • I completely agree, first of all not every one is broke, plus at times like these is when people will be looking of necessaties and consumables at cheap prices, nothing like the Internet to provide that!
    Thanks Jim
  • You know, at one point in time I was nervous about being self-employed; however, seeing how many people are having trouble with their corporate jobs, I am much much less nervous about my financials.

Granted there is much risk in doing what I do; however, in doing what I do, it doesn't seem like there is an end anytime soon. More and more as my work caters to more people not only within the United States but also internationally, things continue to get very much easier for me.
  • Your confident is very much appreciable and I think that can fetch you a lot. Keep it up and you can do anyhing.
