There seems to be alot of posts springing up on alot of blogs lately about the black hat seo subject. I think the difference between black, white, grey, blue or any other color hat is getting very blurred and personally i will do ALMOST anything to get links and people to my website and I think the majority of people (if they are honest) would do the same. Its up to the various search engines to try and stop or control it which currently i iether think they are not doing very well or dont care...
Interesting blog by the way.. ill be coming back to this one ;)

I don't know the intent of his post but agree with a lot of what he said. But his time is coming with Mahalo. A human edited search engine has no chance of working at least in the mainstream. DMOZ has had it's share of problems, never used by mainstream for search. The internet is just too big and everchanging to ever be humanly edited. But they say their goal is to just hand write the first 10,000 which is doable. But they're still using Google on the site not only with search terms but Adwords. If it ever became as popular as Squidoo, problems will start to pop up. Speculation about what sites get in and don't, will always happen with human edited (fill in the blank), people will figure out ways to game it. And for terms that there are no hand written results pages, it's all Google, might as well go there first. And for the ones that they do have hand written pages for, just on a few searches you can see kind of a template developing. Usually search terms home page, wikipedia, then depending on the category, further sites you start seeing a lot of. So if/when Mahalo grows out of mainly the blogoshere, so will the kind of posts Jason wrote about Squidoo except in his direction. You just can't human edit the internet and it's something the mainstream would never use.

Note: Squidoo admits they have a huge problem and that they will take care of it: http://www.squidoo.com/blog/?p=155

It's not like I'm making this stuff up. Our site, as well as many other sites, are getting massive spam attacks using Squidoo as the monetization/transfer agent. This same thing happened with Google's Blogger and folks stuck it to Google until they cleaned up their splog problem.

Frankly, I wish more "good people of the Internet" would speak up WRT spam/splogs/deceptive marketing.

Mahalo for the feedback,

I believe Calacanis was fierce critic of Pay Per Post as well. I think Pay Per Post came out better out of the controversy. Jason unwillingly will push Squidoo into the right direction. I just think one day people will simply stop listening to what he has to say.

Can it be he is just irritated that Mahalo did not take off as he wanted it?
