Your Blog Is Your Resume

resumecover-sm.jpgThese guys couldn’t be more correct. Your blog is your resume.

Your blog says everything about you. Who you are, what you like, etc… Heck, even your design template that you’ve chosen can tell something about you.

Your blog is you!

And don’t even think about using your MySpace page as your resume. MySpace is too cluttered and spammy, because that’s how MySpace is. Your personal blog shouldn’t be like that.

I haven’t built a real resume in over 10 years. Maybe longer.

Why? Because they’re stupid, and only work for entry-level jobs required by baby-boomers who are still holding on too tight.

In today’s world, I argue that a person would be MUCH more successful in landing a job with a single, clean blog page with their details on it, as opposed to some lame “career objective” resume.

Be creative. Don’t listen to teachers telling you to create boring print out resumes. Take the initiative and take the job you want.

Business Around A Lifestyle

The world changed on 9/11 in so many different ways. Since that day, there has been a major shift happening in the way people think and live their lives. Sure, many people still chase the dollar as their ultimate goal. However, many more people have begun to realize that the world could, well, end tomorrow.

That's why people are choosing to pursue a business around a lifestyle, instead of a lifestyle controlled by their business. It makes sense, right? If the world was going to end tomorrow, would you still try to live your life in a way you never wanted to?

Take a look around you and you'll see that this shift to becoming a lifestyle entrepreneur is being adopted by more and more people every day. Some of those people are falling into it because they have been laid off from their jobs and are literally forced into it. Some of those people just figure out a way to make it happen because of the "end of the world" thinking mentioned above.

Agreed, you should be using your MySpace as a resume, but neither should you use your blog. Rather, you should create a resume and post it to your blog and your MySpace. Like this…
