You’re Full Of Excuses, Stop It

So, what is it? Is it one of these? Or have you created your very own excuse?

I’ve taken lots of shots. Lots of them. And many of them have failed. But at least I can say that I’m taking shots. What did Wayne Gretsky say? “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take?”. Yep, he did, and that’s dead on.

You want to be successful. So what’s your excuse?

Is it money? Well then, you may have something there. But if it’s “time”, or “fear of failing” or anything like that, then you are simply making excuses that will stop you from reaching success.

I wrote about going for it the other day. If you want to be successful, there’s no excuse for going for it. None.

No more excuses. The time is now. For me, and for you. I’m about to fire another shot off before the clock winds down, and I will continue to do so my entire life.

Will you?

    Great post, Jim. I wrote one very similar on the way to BlogWorld. You can always find an excuse, instead, try to find a way to make it happen!

    You're absolutely right. Sometimes before taking on a new project, it's sometimes easier to find reasons not to get started. However, you won't know if you'll be successful until you try. What are some of the excuses you've made? I really enjoy the Wayne Gretzky quote, by the way. Thanks for posting!

    Another inspiring post Jim! I find this great…when the economy is down and everyone's worried about money, status of their jobs, etc., the blogging community has banded together to encourage each other to not make excuses, go for it, and be successful. This is just one of several posts, as I'm sure you've come across as well, in recent days about continuing to hustle, push forward and make something of this time.

    Cheers to you and everyone else who succeeds during this time because they never gave up, stopped with the excuses and went for theirs!!!

    Awesome post Jim. The only way to get somewhere with a goal is to deny yourself from having excuses about why you can't do it and create solutions with how you can do it. Nice work man. Sometimes a lot of that has to do with personality and seeing the glass as half empty rather than half full.

    Thanks for the comments.

    @Tim, there's always a way!

    @MLRebecca I love that Gretsky quote too.

    @Justin, Yes, I'm feeling that people need shots like this, so I'm dishing it out.

    @Garry yep, thanks for commenting.

    That's it! I'm constantly having new ideas but a lot of them just get lost and never happen! You will never succeed unless you keep trying.

    The word IMPOSSIBLE in itself says I'm possible ~ this is one of favorite quotes. Excuses are always available and very easy way out. But what is it for ?? For fooling self or others ?? Either ways we also fool ourselves knowingly or unknowingly. The challenge is ” How to Do” and “How to do it successfully” .. at least participation is important .. You are happy you gave it a shot at the end of the day! Do your best and God will do the rest! Giving excuses is not the challenge overcoming it is!!

    'Fear of failure', that's me summed up in 3 words. I have no faith in my own ability. Why? Because on the rare occasions I have stepped out of my comfort zone, I've messed up by doing something really stupid. I'm 54 years old now, and can feel myself getting more insular as time goes by. I do like the quote “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” I'm going to try and remember that one.

    I fail once a week Judith. Everyone does. All successful people do. You must learn to deal with it and keep going. Take shots!
