I’m sitting here reading my hard copy of the new 2008 Landing Page Handbook from Marketingsherpa. I’ve been doing a LOT of landing pages lately, and I’m beginning to realize that I’m doing them all wrong.
The handbook states…
Newly updated and expanded for 2008, MarketingSherpa’s bestselling Landing Page Handbook helps you raise conversions by up to 55% or more for search, email, and ad campaigns for lead generation, ecommerce, and even blogs.
Sure, it’s $497 to own a copy of it, but darn it, it’s worth it. So far, I’m only 30-pages in, and I can already see that I’m doing my landing pages completely wrong. I’m also picking up some HUGE tips for increasing conversions.
Check this out, if you match the keyphrase from a Google Adwords click to appear in the headline on your landing page, you can possibly get a 15.16% higher conversion rate. That’s pretty darn huge. For example, if you are bidding on the phrase “homeowners insurance”, you should dynamically show that person a headline or image that says something like “You searched for “homeowners insurance” on Google. Duh, why didn’t I think of that?
Tons of more tips like that. I suggest that if you are spending any significant money on pay per click that you NEED to get this guide. Or, if you don’t want to do all that reading and would prefer a professional team to do a landing page for you, give me a ring or email me (contact info on left hand side of blog). I can put you in touch with professionals who do this for a living.
Bottom line… Your landing pages probably suck, and you’re not making as much money off of conversions as you should be. Time to get it done right?
