Speaking at TEDx

Last week I had the pleasure of speaking at my first TEDx event. It was held in Ohio on the Bowling Green campus. TEDxBGSU was an amazing event full of well prepared presenters from a wide range of backgrounds and topics. I was impressed. If you’ve never heard about TED you should definitely go over to their website and watch some videos.

About TEDx – In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

I chose to speak on the topic of happiness, as it directly relates to my recent story about How to Catch Happy. At TED events you get 18-minutes to tell your story. I believe I came in at 17:59 exactly. I could have gone on for another 18 for sure.

The video from the event is not available yet, but stay tuned to me on Twitter and Facebook and here on my blog as I will be posting it as soon as I get it. Thank you to all involved for a wonderful day of learning and inspiration. If you ever get a chance to speak, or attend, a TED event I highly recommend you do so.
