F*#$ It! - The World Is Ending

So I Got A Fish Tattoo

Before we begin, I just wanted to say that the reason I haven't emailed the past three weeks is I didn't have anything to say. Like you, my head is spinning with all the craziness happening in the world right now, and sometimes you just need to take a few moments and reflect, and listen. So thanks for checking in on me for those that did. All is well. I will continue to post every week as the thoughts come to me. Now on to today's SYCS.

What would cause a 48-year-old man to finally decide to get a giant rainbow trout inked on his leg as his first tattoo??

Well, let's talk about. Was it a mid-life crisis? Probably, maybe? Isn't that too cliche?

Or, was it that maybe my brain is telling me that the world could end any day, so...

WHY THE FUCK NOT?

I've talked about this "world ending mindset" before, here.

And here with stories about how impulsive and fun Bill Murray is.

And of course, here with the planned obsolescence of our own lives.

So I guess you could say I've been building up to this for a while now.

But what finally made me do it?

Honestly? It's best summed up here with my post on how COVID is a gift.

Summary: I've reached the final stage of grief... ACCEPTANCE!

That's where I'm at, and from what I'm seeing from all of you on social media, so are you.

Yeah, we're still anxious and scared (most of us). But in a general sense, we're ready to move on. Even if that means not being safe and risking our lives.

Why?

There are a million arguments to be made about this, and opinions and actions vary based on cultures and countries.

But here in the USA? We simply value our way of life more than anything else. Even death.

Now you can make the argument that that is a terrible thing and one of our major weaknesses.

You could also make the argument that it's one of our greatest strengths.

And we're going to argue; that's what we do.

But let's be honest about where we're at. We're moving on. We've accepted that this is how the world is going to be. We've accepted this "new normal". (I hate that phrase just as much as you do.)

So why did I get a trout tattooed on my leg?

Because deep down I've accepted the fact that I could wake up tomorrow with COVID-19, or some other terrible ailment and well, that's it. Finito. End of watch.

This is where my head is at. How about you? Text me.
