How Do You Tune A Ukulele?

Last week I talked about being inspired. So much so in fact that I bought a Ukulele because it sounded like fun to try and learn it, and because I could learn to play it on camera.

So here’s my first video of the Ukulele out of the box and not tuned. Pretty bad. I will be filming myself learning how to play it and you can watch the progress over time. Maybe I’ll even get good enough to start playing some songs.

Why do this? Because it’s fun and I like music and well, it will make for good videos. I hope. Also, sometimes the best videos are those of you just trying something. When was the last time you took a risk and just tried something?

Customer Service Means Everything

How’s your customer service? If it’s bad, you’re probably not very successful. It means… everything to your business… and your brand.

This video talks about my views on how good customer service is essential to your success. And I’m not just talking about “customers who buy stuff”. You may not sell anything. How you deal with people who read your blog, or who watch your videos, or who interact with your brand in any way… those are customers. Believe it. Everyone you interact with is your customer. You are always selling, indirect or direct.

My Post-It Note Story, Attention = Success

The video below is all about getting attention to create opportunity, or revenue, or whatever it is that you’re looking to do. It’s a story about how I used a stack of yellow post-it notes to get offered a job. You should appreciate the middle part of this video where I post the notes all over my face for comedy effect.

The point is… you can get a lot in this world if you can get someone’s attention. Anyone can do it. You just have to not be afraid to try to do something unusual. There’s so many people doing the same thing out there; you have to stand out. Enjoy this video and I hope it inspires you to try to do something different to get what you want. Otherwise… you’re just going to be lumped in with everyone else, and that’s usually not a good thing.

Here’s the text version of this post-it note story I wrote about in 2007 here on this blog.

Does Your Brand Have A Jingle?

Watch video below to see the world premier of my new Daily Flip jingle!

I’ve always wanted a cheesy jingle. You know, like the ones you see on late night TV from the used car salesman in your town? Or the windows/garage door/plumber, etc…? You know what I’m talking about. They produce these seemingly low-quality, yet, extremely catchy jingles that they run on radio and TV over, and over, and over… Until it’s hammered into your brain. Hey, it works.

So, the other day on Twitter (add me) I said I wanted a jingle, and someone responded and said they could help me find someone to do it. Two hours later I have a jingle for the Daily Flip, and I love it. Twitter is kicking butt for me these days. Great news, because I quit it last fall, now I’m back and loving it, for now. So, does your brand have a jingle? It should?

Oh yeah, If you think you can make a better jingle than the one in my video, go ahead and send it to me. I’ll feature it on the show. For now though, watch the video below and enjoy my new jingle.

Are You Awesome? You Can Be!

I’m bringing back a few videos from waaaaayyy back in the day. August 2006 to be exact. We did these videos on Awesome Dave’s Mac. It was my first exposure to creating online videos and I realize now that these videos are a huge reason I pursued moving to video. So much fun.

So what is this all about? Me and my buddy Dave created the Awesome Million, where anyone, or anything, can become really awesome! It’s free, so go get yourself awesome today!

By the way, check out my Awesome page.

Here’s our quick intro video of what it’s all about.

Here’s a longer video talking more about it.

And here’s a wacky video of us seeing who can eat a stack of crackers the fastest.

Here’s one of us dancing like idiots with Billy Bob teeth.

What are you waiting for? Make yourself or a friend really awesome right now, for free!

Get Attention with SendaBall.com

Nowadays we all need to find new ways to get attention in order to stand out and get what we want. I review a unique business idea called SendaBall.com (affiliate link) that I think anyone can use to get attention in a cost-effective way. Use it to get the attention of a potential employer, or a big customer.

Bloggers Be Lazy – The Lazysphere Explained

Steve Rubel wrote a post called “The Lazysphere and the Decline of Deep Blogging” which really struck a nerve with me. I just had to do a video post about my feelings on how bloggers have in fact become way too lazy these days. Why are so many bloggers chasing the dreams of a “flood of traffic“?

SomethingStore.com – Creative Ideas Get Noticed

Note: This is the first beta version of the Daily Flip web show. It’s… meh. It will get better (I hope). Thoughts you’d like to share? Short enough? Boring? I have a face for radio? Lay it on me.

The SomethingStore.com website is a unique idea that I love. You order “something” for 10 bucks, and they send you “something”. I got a remote control speed car, which is pretty cool, and fun to play with.

The point is… creative ideas get noticed. Sure, they probably won’t make millions off of this, but it’s probably fun to do and gets them a lot of attention. Worked on me, obviously.

Found this great site tonight as well. Brotherhood2.com. Great concept, great execution.

There’s so much fun stuff out there to see. I need to start exploring more online, that’s for sure. Enjoy, I am.
