The rest of the show was a stretch for time. We need more callers!

Andy Beal Has 5 Must Read Success Tips For Interactive Marketing Agencies

Andy Beal writes an enourmously powerful and helpful blog entry entitled ‘Five Secret Strategies to Add $1 Million in Revenue to your Interactive Marketing Agency in 2007′. Go read it, now. Ok, assuming you’re in the online/marketing/interactive agency business. If you’re a shoe repairman, you might not find it so intriguing. :9

One of the most common questions I am asked by marketing agencies seeking my advice – especially those that are newly-started or still relatively small – is “how do I attract new clients and grow my business?” While there are many ways to accomplish this task, depending on your resources and your target market, there are some proven strategies that any marketing firm can implement.

The five secret strategies listed in this guide are tried and trusted. I have used them to help grow one firm to $25+ million in annual revenues and another to an annual run rate of $2+ million in its first year. However, the strategies suggested below are not just confined to the companies I have worked with, they are evident in many successful agencies. Take a look at any successful marketing firm – whether it focuses on search, web design, email, viral or interactive – and you’ll likely see they’ve followed at least half the strategies I’ve listed.

I don’t want to sound like one of those overly-tanned, bright-smiled, “gurus” you see on infomercials late at night but, if you follow the strategies I’ve outlined, I’m convinced you can add at least $1 million in new revenue for your agency, over the next twelve months.

I can relate to all 5 points, and tell you that he’s dead-on. If you want to be successful, you’ll read this and follow it.

Online Marketing Tip: If It Feels Wrong, Don’t Do It

Ok, so we’ve got quite a storm brewing from a story in the Washington Post the other day that basically says that word of mouth marketing, well, read this.

The FTC issued an official opinion stating that people who endorse of a products, and who are compensated for their efforts, must disclose the nature of that relationship to their “customers”.

Now, some are already trying to tie word of mouth into Affiliate Marketing, which I think is a big, big stretch. I’ll have more of my thoughts on this here and over at ReveNews over the next few days, but I wanted to write this post to illustrate one key message.

And that is… if what you’re about to do “feels” wrong, it probably is.

This rule can be applied to anything, but in our case, online marketing more specifically, across search engine optimization, email marketing and affiliate marketing… as well as any other type of marketing you can name.

The next time you’re about to do something, think to yourself… “Does this feel wrong?”

You know what to do.

Free Online Marketing Ideas Radio Show – December 12, 2006

My radio show goes on for installment #2 today at 1pm est. Hope you can call in and chat with me. The dial in number is (646) 915-9539. Looking forward to hearing from you, and hopefully helping your with a creative, free, marketing idea for your business.

My business partner and good friend Dave Potokar (Awesome Dave) called in and co-hosted the show with me today. Dave is a freelance creative gun for hire, visit

I pimped out my new, relaunched, company called If you’re a blogger looking for an alternative to Google Adsense, please check it out.

Dave and I continued the shameless self-promotional messaging by talking more about how we’ve taken our free for everyone!

Reader Mail: I answered an email from another BlogTalkRadio host about how to market your radio show, and in general get promotion for your brand through MySpace, and more specifically, how difficult it is to market well in MySpace.

We have a caller!: Aaron called in asking about using Google Adwords and his lack of success in getting conversions for his product, which he didn’t mention what it was. I talked about my limited PPC knowledge and offered a few tips and resources for him to look into. Specifically, check out and do a search at for landing pages and ppc conversion studies. Oh yes, and check out for landing page advice.

Alex Tew’s Pixelotto A Rip Off?

Tonight I got an email from Peter who owns The Quest For The Million site (aff link). He claims in his blog that Alex Tew has ripped off his idea and created Pixelotto.

It’s basically what we came out with in the summer of 2006. The big difference is that Alex’s site looks cheaper, has no affiliate program, and not even a blog. How lame can you get? So here’s the deal. We’re cheaper, we were first, and we have an affiliate program.

Perhaps Peter, but what you need to do right now is block and tackle and get your word out. You can’t stop him from having a similar idea, and your “proof” is not worth anything legally, unless of course you have some kind of patented trademark on the process?

If I was you right now, I’d be using his name to help sell your idea to the press. There’s a story here? Keep it positive though. Nobody wants to help out some angry person.

Note: Being original is not always the only key to success. We put up and we were completely original and first, etc… But we had competitors (sorta) pop up in less than 4 weeks. None as good though. I always want competition, because it makes me work harder to make my product better.

Free Online Marketing Ideas Radio Show – December 5, 2006

Ok, so my first show went well, I think! 30 minutes goes really, really fast.

Show Notes:

I did a brief introduction of myself and then chatted about Pixelotto, Alex Tew’s new project.

I talked about my project at

Then I talked about my brother Ken’s company, International Excess. He wants to start a blog about the insurance industry, so I gave my tips that I forwarded on to him.

I did have one caller today, which was Greg from We chatted about his project and and Pixelotto.

That’s about it, it goes fast. Hopefully next week we’ll have more callers.

Pixelotto Is Alive – Will You Win The Million?

I was skeptical at first, but after seeing the new Pixelotto idea in action, I think it’s going be another home run. The site went live this morning.

Here’s why it’s better/different. Because he’s giving away 1 Million bucks to someone (the ad clickers, not the ad buyers), and all they have to do is click on the ads. You max out at 10 entries per day. I clicked on 10 ads today and it took me less than a minute. So assuming the site sells out in 6 months, it works out as follows.

Time invested per day: 1 minute x
6 Months = Approximately 180 days
= 180 minutes of time spent for a chance at 1 million dollars

So that’s 3 hours of my time invested over the next 6 months for a chance at a million bucks. That’s a way better investment than the lottery.

I’ll be talking about this on my radio show today at 1pm, EST. Tune in! Specifically, I want to cover why this is going to work, and that is because of hype, and more importantly, value.
