Why Does YouTube Hate Business Content?

I do a weekly podcast called “Video Ninjas” over at Geekcast.fm with my friend Steve Rosenbaum who owns Magnify.net. I think you might like the show so I’ve included our latest podcast below. The show is all about the business of online video. Trends, business models, stats, etc…

In this week’s show Steve gets me all fired up about how there is no real “place” for business or marketing videos on YouTube. It’s true. YouTube doesn’t want our content (business/marketing) it seems. They want music videos and skateboarding videos. Fine.

But why not have a business section that’s walled off from that content? Steve really got me going in this episode. I think you’ll enjoy this show and future shows. Subscribe over at Geekcast.fm.

Oh yeah, I forget to mention how Steve coins the term “promiscuous posting”, which means posting your videos to multiple sites using Tubemogul. Give Steve credit for that if you ever see it used. Love it.

OnlineVideoToolkit.com Is Live – Win My Flip Camera

In this world, you have to give to get back. So when I started getting about 10 emails a day asking me how I make my web videos, I had two options.

1. Create a guide about how I do it and sell it for profit. Or…
2. Create a guide about how I do it and just give the darn thing away, for free.

I choose the free route. Introducing, OnlineVideoToolkit.com. A free video guide that shows you everything I know about making web videos using inexpensive equipment. I produced about 10 videos showing you all my secrets about lighting, set design, cameras to buy, clothing tips, sound, etc… It’s all there, with more to come.

I even have a contest for the launch. Want to win my Flip camera? Watch the video below. Note: The dates have been extended on this video, you have plenty of time to enter, don’t worry about it.

I hope you enjoy it!

YouTube Rejected Me As A Partner

I’ve been rejected as a YouTube partner. I was told that I didn’t have enough views. They’re right, I don’t, because of a few reasons. 1. I don’t use the YouTube player on my site because the quality of it is, well, bleh. And 2. YouTube doesn’t promote my type of content so how can I get views besides my own traffic?

Bottom line: I don’t think they want my videos. Why? I think because they’re not yet ready with how to handle business content. See, once they begin to embrace it, every business out there is going to jump on board and literally flood them with millions of videos (and the scammers too). It’s going to happen… eventually. I think they’re trying to hold that off. Why don’t they simply release a segregated “business” section, I’m not sure? Maybe they will.

Note: the ONLY reason I wanted to be a partner was to get the cool customizable graphics. I realize that I wasn’t going to make any money from them. Even people with millions and millions of page views aren’t making any decent money.

Hey, YouTube… what’s wrong with my content? Who’s gonna step up and make a YouTube for people like me?

My New Headset, YouTube Tips & Geek Podcasts

Here’s another “long form” Daily Flip video. The first one, “What’s your passion?” got some good reviews, so I figured I’d try another one. However, this one is a bit shorter and has more of a set focus.

I picked three topics for this show. Those are… 1. My new Sennheiser headset I bought from Amazon.com. 2. How I use YouTube to get tips about using software and learning things. 3. My involvement with Geekcast.fm, a site that aggregates podcasts for Internet geeks like me. Listen to my show about online video called Video Ninjas. Enjoy.

YouTube Porn?

Happy Valentines Day. Here’s some porn for you and your sweetie! Well, not really. Here’s a video I did that talks about porn on YouTube. I get a lot of traffic to this blog from people searching for porn on YouTube since I did this post a while back.

So obviously I had to do the research. Is there porn on YouTube? Their terms state that there’s not supposed to be. But if you look at some of the samples in the video below, well, you decide, is that porn or not? I’ll let you be the judge. Obviously, YouTube doesn’t seem to think so. Enjoy.

happy valentines day everyone.

Last year I wrote a few posts about all of the questionable content I was finding
on Youtube. You know what I"m talking about… porn

How did I find that content you ask?

Um…

What’s funny is that a crapload of my traffic on jimkukral.com since that time
comes from people searching for porn on youtube. So it’s pretty clear to me
that people like porn.

Newsflash!

What’s also clear is that people want to watch porn on YouTube, because darnit,
they’re searching for it and ending up on my blog.

Even though technically it’s not really porn, it’s "questionable content".
Youtube’s policies clearly state that you can’t upload porn.

The question I have though is… where’s the line drawn. What’s porn, and what
isn’t?

I’ll leave that debate for the scientists.

I get so much traffic from youtube porn searches I might have to start putting
adult ads on my website just to capatilize on the traffic.

But alas, there’s no porn on my blog and there probably will never be. So all
of these people are searching on Google for porn on youtube and Imagine the
disspointment they must feel when they see my face after the click.

Sorry porn peeps!

So because today is valentine’s day, I’ve decided that more "research"
needs to be done on this topic, so here’s some youtube porn, um, i mean "questionable"
content. Enjoy it with your sweetie.

Not safe for kids. Although, YouTube seems to be ok with it.

So You Wanna Be A YouTube Star?

If you aren’t watching sXephil on YouTube yet, you should be. His main site is PhillyD.tv. The guy does a daily show that is one of the best I’ve seen. No, not as good as ZEFrank (who is?), but he’s close which is a pretty big compliment in my book.

The other day Phil talked about the things you need to know if you are trying to make videos for YouTube. Watch his video first, then my video response below.
